Overview

The IT intern is a customer-first role supporting the operational activity of the IT team. This role must also be able to answer and act upon basic support requests and escalate as necessary.

Responsibilities

Interns will learn how to:

 

  • Providehelp desksupport with skill and customer focus 
  • Image desktop and laptop computer hardware and complete deployment according to varying brand and departmental standards, and collaborate with senior support technicians to improve system images and imaging process 
  • Process new hires and terminations according to documented specifications 
  • Resolve password, login, user account, and access control support requests 
  • Deploy applications individually and with client management tools 
  • Maintain inventory records for the department, follow asset lifecycle management guidelines, and process computer refresh and peripherals requests 
  • Provide 1st level physical security and antivirus response for workstations 
  • Perform A/V support for meetings, and 1st level A/V troubleshooting 
  • Perform desk moves, including large-scale department-level restacks in cooperation with Office Services and Facilities teams 
  • Maintain stock of IT supplies used by both the support team and the user population 
  • Assist senior support technicians and other shared services departments as directed by the supervisor
  • Provide general office and ad hoc support as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work 40 hours/week during regular business hours throughout the 10-week Internship Program.
  • Interest in technology and ability to impart understanding to others 
  • Sincere desire to assist colleagues with technical challenges 
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and Mac OS 
  • Familiarity with iOS and Android mobile devices 
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, with interest in business automation highly desirable
